3 reasons why KOTONE makes shirts
We will be accepting reservations for the new Kapok Relax Shirt from December 22nd to January 8th. Delivery is scheduled for the first half of February.
Kapok, which weighs 1/8 of cotton and is made from tree nuts, is a new sustainable material with excellent moisture absorption and heat retention. The brushed material made in combination with organic cotton is lightweight yet wraps you in warmth.
Based on the relaxed fit of an organic cotton relaxed shirt, we have made several fine adjustments to create a genderless look. We paid close attention to the details of the men's shirt, creating a piece that can be worn for a long time, whether worn alone or layered, depending on how you arrange it.
Why does KOTONE make shirts? There are three reasons.
1. We want to increase the choice of high-quality shirts for women.
There are countless options for men's shirts, including work, dressy, and casual shirts, including collar shapes, cuff specifications, and custom-made shirts. I've been feeling like I don't have a lot of options.
This shirt is made from 100% natural materials, has neat stitching, and has a stylish design. Of course, KOTONE's first priority is "comfort".
If you go out into the city and try to find it, you won't be able to find it even in Tokyo, and you'll probably end up with a stiff leg from all the walking you do. I don't think it would be a bad thing for women to have one or two more places where they can come and get a good shirt. It has a universal design without the cinch at the waist or darts at the chest that are found on regular women's shirts, so it can be worn comfortably regardless of body type. (That's why I also photographed male models this time.)
2. We want to directly convey the quality of the materials.
Clothes making always begins with the selection of materials. KOTONE is particular about organic cotton and selects high-quality materials that can be traced back to their raw materials. This time, we are introducing a new sustainable material that combines the benefits of kapok and organic cotton. If you make a shirt from a material that is highly functional, it will convey warmth and gentleness directly to your skin. In order to convey the quality of the material as much as possible, we choose shirts, which are items that come in direct contact with the skin.
3. A high-quality shirt is a timeless and universal item.
"Sustainable Wardrobe". Our aim is to create a wardrobe that can be worn for a long time, using ethically produced items with as little environmental impact as possible. KOTONE recommends it. If you button it up, you'll get a neat look, or just put it on and leave the buttons open for a casual look. Shirts have a universality that transcends seasons and eras, as they can create a variety of styles depending on how you roll your arms or fasten the buttons. It will become a reliable ally in your wardrobe that you will continue to wear for a long time. Therefore, KOTONE will continue to propose shirts.
Fabric samples will also be sent to those who apply by December 31st. Please select from the dropdown on the product page.
Why is Kapok sustainable?
Kapok grows widely in Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa. It grows quickly and requires little water, and no pesticides or insecticides are used for its growth. It also has a low environmental impact because it is collected from nuts without cutting down trees. Until now, it has been used as batting due to its short fibers, but in recent years it has become a new material that can be used as fabric by blending it with other materials such as cotton.
New Year gifts too
As a New Year's gift, the first 10 people who make reservations will receive an organic cotton laundry bag M&L set , which is useful for daily washing of kapok shirts and innerwear, and an Australian organic tea set.
