KOTONE's tucked denim is now available for pre-order
Denim was supposed to be a part of my everyday life.
At some point, commercially available denim no longer fit my body properly, perhaps because of the rise or the stomach area, so my butt looked flat and saggy when I wore them, and the fabric was weaker than before, causing holes to appear in the knees and pockets within less than a year.
First of all, it is difficult to find denim made from 100% cotton, and as a result of prioritizing comfort, modern denim inevitably has a few percent polyurethane added to it to add stretch.
Polyurethane deteriorates over time, which is why denim knees tend to show first, which is why second-hand jeans always end up looking worn and unattractive.
Also, while excessive processing, fading, and distressing were enjoyable when you were younger, it becomes more difficult as you get older and want to maintain a clean look.
We understand that the production of countless denim garments around the world every day places a heavy burden on the earth and water resources.
We want to make and deliver just the number needed, without waste, a piece that can be cherished and worn for a long time.
Naturally, the denim fabric used is 100% organic cotton. We wondered if it was possible to create denim that is comfortable to wear, that makes you feel good wearing it, and that can be worn for a long time and develops over time as it wears... We want to be able to wear stylish denim even when we're old ladies. It's been about three years since we came up with this idea.
We chose the fabric, changed the shape of the sample several times, were unsure about the waist fit, and the sewing factory refused to produce it... After repeating this process, we finally came up with a sample that we were satisfied with, and we were able to see the prospect of mass production, so we have now officially started taking pre-orders .

At the recent DEAI,IDEA event, many customers tried on the shoes and were impressed with the thick, sturdy fabric and the silhouette they created when worn.
I think I've created a work that I'm confident in.
The secret is the deep tucks in the front and the hidden darts in the back. It's not a flat denim, but a design that wraps around the round body.
It is loose around the hips, but has a tapered silhouette that doesn't look sloppy when worn.
The denim is an indigo color that has not faded. I want you to enjoy the process of it becoming your own with each wash. If a hole appears, I want you to make it your own with patches, mending, or embroidery. (I have tried this many times with mass-produced denim I own, and I truly felt that no matter how much you mend denim that is originally made of weak fabric, it unfortunately will not last. I found that the strength of the mended areas is not enough to make it tear even more.)
Reservations will be accepted until November 9th (Sun).
We are taking our time and effort to create this product, and plan to deliver it in the New Year, in late January 2026. We hope you will take a look, including the video.

I'm moving within Adelaide this weekend, but I'll show you all my tucked denim in my spare time! I'm hoping to film a video and share it with you. I want more people to see it, know about it, and try it out, so I'd be happy if you could share this blog post with someone.
The first 10 customers will receive a free bottle of organic tea from Australia. We have already received about half of the pre-orders, but this is just a small token of our appreciation for your continued support of our pre-order sales. (We would really like to deliver it to everyone.)

The price is higher than mass-produced denim available on the market.
However, if you wear them once a week for a year, it will cost 500 yen per wear, and if you wear them once a week for three years, it will cost 170 yen per wear. Considering the amount of time you will be using them, I think they are quite reasonable.
Furthermore, every penny paid by customers will be sent directly to domestic fabric producers, sewing factories and their staff, pattern makers and grading staff, and KOTONE, who take the time to plan products, create samples, and deliver them to the world. Not a single yen will be wasted, and all will go directly to these people. The breakdown of production costs has been made public again this time, so please refer to it.
This has been a long post, but I truly hope that this pair of jeans will become yours.
